As a professional Amazon seller, you’ll hear dozens of acronyms used. If you’re unclear on their meaning, it’s easy to get lost. Or worse yet, make a bad decision.

The ASIN is the platform’s way of tracking and identifying every listing in the Amazon catalog. It works similar to a UPC, and every product that merchants post on Amazon will have a corresponding ASIN.
ACOS is a PPC metric that measures the effectiveness of your Amazon ads. ACoS is calculated with this formula: ACOS = Total Ad Spend/Total Ad Sales.
ASP is the average price an Amazon seller applies on his items. To calculate the ASP, divide your sales by the number of products you sold.
B2B refers to a transaction between two businesses.
The Amazon Buy Box is the box on the right side of the Amazon screen containing all the buttons customers can use to add your products to their cart. It also includes details about each seller that has an active offer.
BOGO refers to a promotion type where the shopper buys one product and receives a second for free.
BSR is a number Amazon assigns to each product based on current and historical sales. Product BSR’s are continually fluctuating.
BSM refers to the messages that take place between the buyer and you (the seller). The messages can be about anything concerning your products and the transactions involving the products.
COGs refer to your cost of inventory.
DSP is Amazon’s advertising platform that enables sellers to run ads for their products on Amazon or non-Amazon websites and social media platforms.
EAN (European Article Number)
The EAN is a 13-digit number that Amazon assigns to retail products in the European market.
FBA is when Amazon warehouses your products inside their fulfillment centers. This also means when a customer orders a product from you, Amazon is responsible for picking, packing, and shipping the products to your customers.
These are the warehouse’s Amazon stores your products. The FC’s are where Amazon sorts, packs, and prepares the items for shipping.
Unlike FBA, where Amazon takes care of the products’ fulfillment, you, the merchant, will handle the fulfillment of your products when you use FBM.
FNSKU is Amazon’s unique identifier. They (or you as the seller in some cases) apply labels to all the products they keep in their fulfillment centers.
This is the 13-digit number that book numbering agencies assign to individual books. This number serves as a means to identify the books.
This is the minimum price that manufacturers set for their products. This means sellers cannot sell the products at a price below the MAP.
MSRP refers to the suggested retail price set by product manufacturers.
ODR measures the rate of your products that have defects. You measure the ODR through customers’ negative feedback and claims.
A SKU is a scannable barcode that contains a combination of letters and numbers to identify each product in your inventory.
The 12-digit number that comes with most products sold on Amazon. The UPC comes with a barcode that customers can look up online.
